Tooth-Colored Fillings

In the past, dentists relied on a type of filling known as an amalgam filling. They were made of a variety of metals, including silver and mercury, and because of this, they had a dark gray color that would stand out against a patient’s teeth.
While some dentists still use amalgam fillings, most—including Dr. Scheddin—have traded amalgam fillings for tooth-colored fillings. Why? Because tooth-colored fillings have several advantages over traditional amalgam fillings, the first of which is stated in the name itself. Amalgams have an unattractive color that makes patients feel self-conscious about smiling, but tooth-colored fillings are shaded to blend in with your smile. They’re also far less temperature-sensitive compared to their traditional metal counterparts.

Dental Crowns

A dental crown is used to entirely cover or "cap" a damaged tooth. Besides restoring and strengthening a damaged tooth, the crown can also be used to improve the tooth's appearance, shape, or alignment in the row. At our office, we only use crowns made from natural-looking, safe, and durable materials.
